Ascend Learning is seeking a Tax Director to lead our in-house tax operations across federal and multi-state compliance, tax provision and reporting. You will partner with the VP of Tax and external providers to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and cost discipline while driving strategic tax initiatives.
The role requires deep knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax, ASC 740, and experience with complex tax planning, forecasting, and tax technology.

The Tax Director will lead Ascend's in-house tax operations across federal and multi-state compliance, tax provision and accounting, and partnership/PE sponsor reporting, partnering with the VP of Tax to execute a co-source transition and stand up sustainable internal processes. This role serves as the day-to-day owner of the relationship with the external tax provider, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost discipline across retained workstreams. The Tax Director will drive accuracy of interim and annual tax provision, including implementation of OneSource, and support ad hoc projects that advance the department's strategic priorities.
This position will work hybrid from our Leawood, KS or Burlington, MA office location.
The current full-time annualized hiring range for this role is $144,600.00-$206,800.00 and does not include discretionary bonus or sales incentives, if applicable. In accordance with applicable state laws, we are providing the expected salary range for this position. Individual compensation will be determined by various factors, including relevant experience, qualifications, current business needs and local market factors. Most regular, full-time employees are eligible to participate in an Ascend incentive bonus or sales plan.
