Salary: $215,000–$250,000 annually, with flexibility for exceptional experience

Employment Type: Full-Time

Industry: Public Accounting & Advisory Services

Lead the Practice. Build the Vision. Drive the Results.

What if your next leadership opportunity gave you the ability to do more than oversee tax engagements?

What if you could establish the vision, shape the strategy, develop the people, and take true ownership of an entire tax practice?

212° Titans is partnering with an established regional accounting and advisory firm in the Greater Philadelphia area to identify an accomplished Tax Director / Head of Tax.

This is a highly influential executive-level opportunity for a tax leader who combines broad technical expertise with the ability to build structure, inspire accountability, develop talent, and drive sustainable practice growth.

The successful candidate will assume leadership of an established tax department, partnering closely with firm leadership to strengthen operations, expand advisory capabilities, develop a high-performing team, and position the practice for long-term success.

We're looking for someone who doesn't simply manage the work, but takes ownership of the function, the people, and the results.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
Executive-Level Influence: Take ownership of an entire tax function, with a meaningful voice in departmental strategy, operational priorities, and long-term growth.
The Opportunity to Shape a Practice: Establish a clear vision, develop actionable plans, strengthen processes, and build a department positioned for continued success.
An Established Team to Lead: Guide, mentor, and develop an existing team of tax professionals while helping shape the department's continued growth and future direction.
A Culture Built Around Accountability: Join an organization that values purposeful meetings, clear expectations, measurable goals, and consistent execution through a structured operating philosophy.
Meaningful Client Relationships: Serve as a strategic advisor to business owners, organizations, and high-net-worth individuals across a diverse range of industries and tax disciplines.
Professional Growth and Impact: Work alongside firm leadership to identify opportunities for practice development, operational improvement, and expanded advisory services.
Competitive Executive Compensation: Base salary of $215,000–$250,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates whose leadership experience and qualifications justify additional consideration.
Work-Life Balance: Join a firm that values professional excellence alongside personal well-being, including summer hours.
What You'll Be Doing
Provide Strategic Leadership for the Tax Department
  • Lead the entire tax function, establishing a clear departmental vision, strategic priorities, and measurable objectives.
  • Develop and execute annual operating plans aligned with the firm's broader business goals.
  • Oversee departmental budgets, profitability, staffing, resource allocation, and performance.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability across the department, ensuring that goals translate into actionable plans and measurable results.
  • Partner directly with firm leadership on organizational strategy, operational decisions, and long-term practice development.
Drive Practice Growth and Client Relationships
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand the tax practice through business development, referrals, and deeper existing client relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to broaden advisory services and create additional value for clients.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on complex tax matters, business decisions, and long-term planning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business owners, executives, high-net-worth individuals, and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across service lines to deliver comprehensive solutions and strengthen client partnerships.
Lead Across a Broad Range of Tax Disciplines
  • Provide senior-level oversight of federal, state, and local tax compliance, planning, and advisory engagements.
  • Guide complex tax matters involving C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, closely held businesses, individuals, estates, trusts, and fiduciaries.
  • Support clients across multiple industries and organizational structures, including for-profit businesses, nonprofit organizations, and healthcare-related entities.
  • Apply broad technical judgment to complex situations, engaging specialized resources when appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of technical quality, regulatory compliance, risk management, and client service.
Develop People and Build an Accountable Team
  • Lead, mentor, and develop tax professionals at all levels, including managers, seniors, and emerging leaders.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, professional development goals, and pathways for advancement.
  • Create an environment where employees understand their responsibilities, receive meaningful guidance, and are empowered to succeed.
  • Coach leaders and team members through challenges, taking ownership of departmental outcomes.
  • Support thoughtful team expansion, succession planning, and continued organizational development.

  • Lead purposeful meetings that drive decisions, resolve challenges, and move initiatives forward.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, leverage technology, and strengthen service delivery.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and results-oriented leadership.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Active CPA license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Approximately 7–10+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience, with substantial exposure to complex tax compliance, planning, and advisory services.
  • Broad taxation experience across multiple entity types, industries, and client structures, rather than a career concentrated exclusively in one specialty.
  • Demonstrated experience leading tax professionals, managing significant client relationships, and taking ownership of departmental, practice, or substantial business-unit performance.
  • Strong understanding of the business side of public accounting, including profitability, staffing, resource planning, and practice development.
  • Proven ability to establish goals, develop actionable plans, hold teams accountable, and deliver measurable results.
  • Experience developing professionals, building effective teams, and fostering strong leadership at multiple levels.
  • Exceptional communication, business judgment, client relationship management, and executive presence.
Highly Valued Experience
  • Previous leadership of a tax department, practice, office, or significant tax function.
  • Experience developing and executing departmental budgets, strategic plans, and performance objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, revenue growth, and expanding client relationships.
  • Experience leading teams through organizational growth, process improvements, or operational transformation.
  • Familiarity with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) or a similar structured management framework.

*Prior EOS experience is not required. However, candidates should genuinely embrace a leadership philosophy built around structure, accountability, clear goals, and disciplined execution.

The Right Fit

You may currently be a Tax Director, Managing Director, Partner, or accomplished Senior Tax Manager who has already demonstrated the ability to lead people, influence strategy, and take ownership of meaningful business results.

You don't necessarily need to have led a large department. What matters most is your demonstrated ability to lead effectively, develop people, establish accountability, and take ownership of a tax function's overall performance.

At 212° Titans, we believe the right career opportunity is about more than compensation or a new title. It's about finding a role where your experience, leadership philosophy, and long-term ambitions align.
