Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Specialist in Cost Basis Operations to join a fast-paced team. You will oversee transmission and upkeep of cost basis data for assets transferred in and out of Schwab, rotating through functions as needed to meet business demands and ensure accurate tax reporting.

The role requires 2+ years in operations, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with Excel and Outlook. A BA/BS is preferred, and Series 7/63 is a plus.

• Proven tax and cost basis experience and knowledge framework
• Excellent command of Excel and Outlook
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• BA or BS degree preferred, Series 7/63 preferred

Responsibilities

• Research and processing cost basis adjustments for Retail and Advisor Services clients
• Option trade reconciliation, return of capital, and cost basis fixed income updates
• Research across multiple systems to verify transaction information
• Process corrections in SPARKS, Schwab’s cost basis system
• Work collaboratively and communicate issues to peers and management

Cost Basis Operations (CBO) is part of the Custody & Asset Services division of Operational Services. As a Specialist in Cost Basis Operations you will be part of a team that oversees the transmission and upkeep of cost basis data for assets transferred in and out of Schwab. This is a fast-paced working environment where effective communication and teamwork are a must. Flexibility and adaptability are necessary, because the specialist will rotate through different functions as business needs arise. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Research and processing cost basis adjustments for Retail and Advisor Services clients
• Option trade reconciliation, return of capital, and cost basis fixed income updates
• Research across multiple systems to verify transaction information
• Process corrections in SPARKS, Schwab’s cost basis system
• Work collaboratively and optimally with others

What you have

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years’ experience in Operations
• Proven tax and cost basis experience and knowledge framework

Preferred Qualifications:

• Intermediate computer skills including Outlook, Excel andWord
• An understanding of Macro based tools and an ability to trouble shoot issues with them
• A good foundation and understanding of financial markets and how individuals interact with them
• This role requires strict adherence to the established policies and procedures
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while maintaining the highest level of positivity and professionalism
• Good decision making and sound judgment skills are a must
• Attention to detail is key in being successful in this position
• Requires accurate data entry skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Identify and communicate issues effectively and timely to peers and management team
• Ability to multi-task, understand the importance of follow-through
• Outstanding time management and organization skills
• BA or BS preferred
• Series 7/63 preferred

Inadditionthe salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
