Slash is seeking a hands-on Tax & Compliance Operations Lead to build and run the systems that help Slash meet its tax obligations and operate responsibly as a growing fintech. You will own day-to-day work, building a durable operating framework with clear policies, reliable filings, strong controls, and audit-ready records in partnership with Finance, Legal, Product, and Operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience across tax, compliance, accounting, or financial services; fintech/bank/regulatory exposure is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge in at least one core area—tax or financial services compliance—and ability to manage the other with Legal/specialist support.
• Experience owning complex deadlines, external advisors, audits, or regulatory/partner reviews.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into clear processes and controls.
• Clear, concise communication and sound judgment when facts are incomplete.
• Builder's mindset to handle today’s work and improve processes for the next person.
• A CPA, tax qualification, or compliance certification is a plus.

• Maintain and improve the compliance program with Legal and financial partners.
• Translate applicable laws, regulations, and partner requirements into clear policies, procedures, and operational controls.
• Oversee compliance monitoring, issue escalation, remediation tracking, and audits/examinations/partner reviews.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to embed compliance requirements into products and workflows.
• Train teams on controls and decisions affecting their work.
• Leverage data and automation, including AI tools, to reduce manual work while preserving accountability.

About the role

We're looking for a hands-on Tax & Compliance Operations Lead to build and run the systems that help Slash meet its tax obligations and operate responsibly as a growing financial technology company.

You'll own the day-to-day work while building a durable operating framework: clear policies, reliable filings, strong controls, and audit-ready records. You'll work closely with Finance, Legal, Product, Operations, and our banking and external partners to translate changing requirements into practical processes.

This role is for someone who can get into the details, make sound calls when the answer isn't obvious, and improve the system as the business grows.

What you'll do

• Own corporate tax compliance, including coordinating federal, state, and local filings, tax provision support, information reporting, and external tax advisors.

• Build a calendar and control framework for tax obligations, evidence collection, approvals, and record retention.

• Maintain and improve the compliance program in partnership with Legal and relevant financial partners.

• Translate applicable laws, regulations, and partner requirements into clear policies, procedures, and operational controls.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of relevant experience across tax, compliance, accounting, or financial services; experience in a fintech, bank, or other regulated company is a plus.

• Strong working knowledge in at least one of the two core areas -tax or financial services compliance- and the judgment to manage the other with support from Legal or specialist advisors.

• Experience owning complex deadlines, external advisors, audits, or regulatory and partner reviews.

• Ability to turn complex requirements into clear processes and controls.

• Manual effort decreases without weakening review quality.
