Job summary

The State of Florida's Department of Revenue is seeking a Tax Specialist I for the Tampa Service Center. You will respond to inquiries, analyze tax situations, determine liabilities, and collect receivables in person, by phone, or at taxpayer locations. You will also advise on tax statutes and Department procedures and help train others.

The role involves local travel to taxpayers' locations and may require overnight training. A commitment to public service and veterans' preferences may apply.

Qualifications

• Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue.
• One year of experience collecting tax obligations within the Florida Department of Revenue’s General Tax Administration Program.
• Six months of experience in the post warrant role performing enforcement actions including filing tax liens, garnishments, responsible party assessments, transferee liabilities, or stipulation agreements.

Responsibilities

• Respond to phone inquiries and assist with registering new business entities.
• Analyze and review tax situations and returns to determine tax liabilities.
• Collect receivables in person, over the phone, or at the taxpayer's business location.
• Provide guidance on Florida tax statutes and Department policies and procedures.
