Job summary

The Department of Taxation (State of Nevada) is seeking an Audit Supervisor in Reno. You will supervise at least four sales and use tax auditors, review completed audits for compliance, and serve as the first level of review in resolving determinations and representing cases at hearings.

You will determine audit inventory, select audits, and deliver public training workshops. Additional duties include maintaining audit standards, preparing reports, and mentoring staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with three years of professional auditing or accounting experience; OR high school with five years of professional auditing experience; OR one year as Auditor III; OR equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Research past audit history and develop or perform audit steps per approved program.
• Review financial and tax accounts; examine documentation; interview personnel to verify compliance.
• Conduct audits in accordance with GAO/GAAS and internal standards.
• Document findings; prepare work papers and reports; recommend improvements.
• Conduct interviews to explain audit scope and findings; answer questions.
• Monitor implementation and adherence to established audit procedures.
• Investigate areas at risk and potential fraud; prepare case files and evidence.
