Job summary

Direct Counsel is seeking a Tax Associate (Energy & Transactional Tax) to join its Charlotte, NY, or Washington, D.C. office. The role requires 4–6 years of transactional tax experience and a J.D. from an accredited law school, with an LL.M. in Taxation strongly preferred.

Salary ranges from $270,000 to $365,000, with exposure to renewable energy projects, tax equity investments, and sophisticated financing transactions within a nationally recognized transactional team.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• 4–6 years of transactional tax experience.
• LL.M. in Taxation strongly preferred.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Excellent academic credentials and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work on sophisticated tax matters, including renewable energy projects.
• Contribute to tax equity investments and complex financing transactions.
• Handle partnership, joint venture, and LLC tax issues.
• Address tax provisions in M&A transactions and related agreements.
• Draft stock purchase, asset purchase, and merger agreements with tax considerations.
