Frost Law seeks a Tax Associate to join our Tax Controversy Practice in Maryland. You will work closely with seasoned attorneys on complex tax matters and gain hands-on experience in audits, appeals, and litigation.

The role emphasizes strong research and writing, client communication, and meticulous record-keeping. JD from an accredited law school and Maryland admission are preferred; LL.M. in Taxation or CPA is a plus.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Maryland preferred).
  • 1–3 years of legal experience in tax controversy, tax law, or litigation.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • LL.M. in Taxation or CPA is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in representing clients in federal and state tax audits, appeals, and litigation.
  • Draft legal memoranda, IRS correspondence, and Tax Court petitions.
  • Conduct legal research on the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, case law, and IRS guidance.
  • Support the preparation and negotiation of Offers in Compromise, Installment Agreements, penalty abatement requests, and other tax resolutions.
  • Assist with collection due process hearings, trust fund recovery penalties, and innocent spouse claims.
  • Interact with clients and government agencies in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain and organize case files, documentation, and legal records.

Our Tax Controversy Practice represents individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations in disputes with federal, state, and local tax authorities. We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Tax Associate with 1-3 years of experience to join our growing team.

Position Overview:

As a Tax Associate, you will work closely with experienced attorneys on complex tax controversy matters. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a high-impact legal area with mentorship and growth potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in representing clients in federal and state tax audits, appeals, and litigation.
