H&R Block in Phoenix East is hiring a seasonal Tax Associate to support clients with tax preparation and related services. You’ll gather information, prepare returns with guidance from experienced teammates, and explain tax concepts clearly to clients.

No prior tax experience is required as training is provided. The role offers an hourly pay rate with opportunities to increase earnings as your tax knowledge grows, and it is an in-person position at a local office in Phoenix.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course.
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems included AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT.
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent.

About the Role

As a seasonal Tax Associate at H&R Block, you’ll begin a career in tax and client services—no prior tax experience required. With training and support from day one, you’ll work directly with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions while building valuable skills and strong client relationships. You’ll earn a competitive hourly rate, with opportunities to increase your earnings as you build tax knowledge and grow in the role. This role is in-person at a local H&R Block tax office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
• Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on customer needs
• Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
