Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Seasonal Tax Associate to help clients with tax information, gather data, and prepare returns with training and support from experienced teammates. You’ll earn a competitive hourly rate and build valuable tax knowledge in a collaborative, in-person office setting.

This role is in-person at a local H&R Block tax office, with hours that can extend during peak periods. Expect 15–40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; customer service experience valued.
• Strong communication and ability to explain complex info clearly.
• Problem-solving skills and organizing information.
• Comfort with digital tools and AI-based assistance.
• Completion of HR Block Income Tax Course or equivalent is a plus.

With training and support from day one, you’ll work directly with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions while building valuable skills and strong client relationships. You’ll earn a competitive hourly rate, with opportunities to increase your earnings as you build tax knowledge and grow in the role.

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course1
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems included AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
• Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on customer needs
• Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
