Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services is seeking a Tax Associate to assist with preparing and reviewing tax returns and related filings. The role involves tax research, client communication, and ensuring compliance for Puerto Rico and the U.S. tax framework.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of tax experience, preferably within a public accounting firm.
  • Knowledge of Puerto Rico and/or U.S. tax compliance and regulations.
  • Experience preparing tax returns and supporting tax schedules.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines during peak tax periods.
  • Billing and billable-hours bonuses, approximately $3,000–$7,000 annually.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and other applicable tax returns in accordance with current tax regulations.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax compliance requirements for assigned clients.
  • Prepare supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation related to tax filings.
  • Research Puerto Rico and U.S. tax laws, regulations, and guidance as needed for client engagements.
  • Assist with tax estimates, extensions, and other tax-related filings and compliance matters.
  • Review financial information and supporting documentation to identify potential tax issues or discrepancies.
  • Communicate with clients to request documentation, clarify information, and follow up on outstanding tax matters.
  • Assist senior team members with tax planning, consulting projects, and responses to government tax notices or inquiries.
  • Maintain organized workpapers and documentation in accordance with firm standards.
  • Support multiple client engagements while meeting established deadlines and billing requirements.

Job description
