Job summary

H&R Block is hiring a Seasonal Tax Associate in Kansas. You will work in-person at a local H&R Block tax office, meeting clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions with day-one training and support.

You'll earn a competitive hourly rate and build tax knowledge to grow in the role. This position is in-office and requires flexibility to work during peak tax season, with opportunities to increase earnings as skills develop and product recommendations are made.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course (or equivalent)
• Experience interacting with customers in a service environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
• Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on customer needs
• Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
