Job summary

H&R Block is hiring a seasonal Tax Associate in Huntsville, AL. You will meet with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns with training from teammates, and explain tax information clearly.

You’ll identify savings opportunities and recommend services, while building strong client relationships in a team-driven, client-first office culture. Training begins day one, no prior tax experience required, and you’ll earn a competitive hourly rate with opportunities to grow your tax knowledge

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT.
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent

About The Role

As a seasonal Tax Associate at H&R Block, you’ll begin a career in tax and client services—no prior tax experience required. With training and support from day one, you’ll work directly with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions while building valuable skills and strong client relationships. You’ll earn a competitive hourly rate, with opportunities to increase your earnings as you build tax knowledge and grow in the role. This role is in-person at a local H&R Block tax office.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
• Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on customer needs
• Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
