Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to help clients with information gathering and tax return preparation in person at a Boise office. No prior tax experience is required; comprehensive training and support are provided from day one to enable success and client service excellence.

You will meet with clients, explain tax information clearly, identify tax savings opportunities, and build strong client relationships while contributing to team goals during peak tax season.

Qualifications

  • Completion of the HR Block Income Tax Course
  • Experience interacting with customers in a service environment
  • Strong communication, including explaining information clearly
  • Problem-solving with ability to organize information and identify solutions
  • Comfort using digital tools including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
  • High school diploma / GED or equivalent

About The Role

As a seasonal Tax Associate at H&R Block, you’ll begin a career in tax and client services—no prior tax experience required. With training and support from day one, you’ll work directly with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions while building valuable skills and strong client relationships. You’ll earn a competitive hourly rate, with opportunities to increase your earnings as you build tax knowledge and grow in the role. This role is in-person at a local H&R Block tax office.

Required Qualifications
  • Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course1
  • Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
  • Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
  • Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
  • Comfort using digital tools and systems included AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
  • High school diploma / GED/ equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
  • Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on customer needs
  • Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
