Job summary

H&R Block in Texas seeks a seasonal Tax Advisor to help clients navigate complex tax situations, prepare accurate returns for individuals and businesses, and ensure compliance with current tax laws, while delivering step-by-step guidance.

You'll conduct in-depth client interviews, assess life changes affecting taxes, provide clear recommendations, build trusted relationships, and promote tax savings opportunities and relevant H&R Block products, supported by training and technology.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Minimum 2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns
• Experience working in a client facing, consultative, or advisory role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language
• Must complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment1

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, bookkeeping
• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA), or other IRS Circular 230 credential
• Experience completing complex returns, tax planning, audit support, or tax notice resolution
• Familiarity with GoSystem or Ultratax software
• Familiarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)
• Experience in a consultative or advisory client relationship role (financial advising, insurance, or professional services)
