Job summary

Grimes S&C Tax Advisors, LLC is seeking an entry-level Tax Accountant in Needham, MA to prepare individual and business returns under supervision. You will develop tax skills, gain client exposure, and contribute to a collaborative team in a boutique practice.

As you grow, you will handle more complex work and direct client interaction, while using tax software and workflows to improve efficiency. This hands-on role offers growth within a small firm environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Entry-level role; recent graduates and candidates with internship or early‑career tax experience encouraged.
• Foundational knowledge of accounting and tax concepts.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a client‑focused approach.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; familiarity with tax software is a plus.
• Interest in pursuing CPA or other credentials encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Protect confidential client and firm information and perform additional duties as needed.

Position Summary

Grimes S&C Tax Advisors is seeking a Tax Accountant to join our team. This is an entry‑level opportunity for a recent graduate or early‑career professional who is interested in building a career in tax preparation, compliance, and client service.

The Tax Accountant will prepare individual and business tax returns, workpapers, and supporting schedules under the guidance and review of more experienced team members. As experience develops, this individual will take on increasingly complex work and greater direct client interaction.

As a member of a small, collaborative tax practice, this is a hands‑on role where team members are expected to contribute where needed and develop broad exposure to the tax process.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals and businesses under the guidance and review of more experienced tax professionals.
• Prepare workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation and ensure information is complete and accurately reflected in tax filings.
• Assist with tax research and apply guidance to client‑specific questions with support from senior team members.
• Communicate professionally with clients to gather information, follow up on missing documentation, and respond to routine questions.
• Assist with tax notices, correspondence, extensions, estimates, and other compliance‑related matters.
• Maintain accurate and organized client records and documentation and meet assigned deadlines.
• Collaborate with the Grims S&C Tax Advisor team and colleagues across Grimes & Company Wealth Management when client needs span tax, financial planning, and wealth management.
• Use tax technology and workflow tools effectively and look for opportunities to improve efficiency and client service.
• Protect confidential client and firm information and perform additional tax, accounting, and client‑service responsibilities as needed.
