Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; or two plus years of experience and/or related training.
• Master's degree, Big 4 CPA firm experience, CPA Certification or actively pursuing is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Accumulate, analyze and process financial data to prepare tax returns and tax provision workpapers.
• Collect documentation from divisions and departments for tax filings.
• Review general ledger accounts in detail.
• Research tax laws and planning strategies; analyze tax issues.
• Provide updates on tax legislation changes.
• Assist with federal/state income tax audits and responses to inquiries.
• Support special projects and maintain EFTP records.
• Conduct continuing education to stay current in tax rules.

D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Tax Accountant for their Tax Department. The right candidate will assist in the preparation of federal and state tax returns, ensuring tax compliance, preparing tax provisions, research, special projects and other tax matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Accumulate, analyze and process financial accounting data to prepare tax returns, tax return workpapers, estimated tax payments and tax provision workpapers

Work with divisions and other departments to distribute and gather documentation for tax return filings

Perform detail review of general ledger accounts

Research and analyze tax laws, planning strategies and other tax issues

Provide updates on tax legislative changes

Assist with federal and state income tax audits including the preparation of responses to audit inquiries and notices

Assist with various special projects and other administrative items

Organize and maintain records of EFTP's

Prepare other non-income tax filings

Update job knowledge by participating in continuing educational opportunities and reading professional publications

Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

Able to travel overnight
