Job summary

HMT is hiring a Drafter in Tomball, TX to draft and detail above-ground storage tank drawings for the Services Engineering group. You will prepare BOMs, input data into tank data sheets, and generate accurate AutoCAD drawings under the Project Lead.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, AutoCAD proficiency, and 0–3 years in tank drafting or a related field with on‑the‑job training provided. The role emphasizes accuracy and compliance with API codes and industry standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• AutoCAD certification or demonstrated proficiency required.
• 0–3 years in the tank or related industry; on‑the‑job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Prepares customer, fabrication, and erection drawings of above‑ground storage tank products and assemblies using AutoCAD in accordance with company standards, notes, sketches, and instructions.
• Inputs information into tank data sheets to generate AutoCAD drawings and BOM; checks and verifies data for correctness against the scope of work.
• Revises and back‑checks redline drawings for customer submittal, fabrication, and erection as directed by the Project Lead or Engineer.
• Prepares detailed drawings from general design drawings, clearly indicating materials, tolerances, and other information necessary for completeness and accuracy.
• Applies industry and company standards — including API codes, design codes, building codes, and standard part drawings — in the preparation and review of drawings, details, and diagrams.
