Qualifications

  • Minimum 90 credits toward a BA/BS degree or equivalent from an accredited university focused on Accounting, Civil Engineering, or Architecture.
  • Travel to assigned client locations is required. Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost analyses of building construction projects and acquired properties to classify assets for proper tax depreciation treatment (cost segregation studies)
  • Review capital maintenance, repair and improvement expenditures for proper tax accounting treatment
  • Create and maintain fixed asset tax depreciation systems using a variety of software platforms
  • Participate in and implement multiple projects simultaneously, including technical discussions with clients, research, data gathering, computations, analysis, and preparing client reports
  • Travel out of town (occasionally) to meet with clients and tour their facilities
  • Develop an understanding of clients’ businesses and become a 'functional expert' in the area

Position Description

At RSM, interns work with large and small companies in various industries. They develop strong working relationships with clients built on understanding their businesses and challenges. Interns work on multiple team engagements during the internship experience, including several pieces of any particular assignment - not just one part. Examples of the candidate’s responsibilities include:
  • Prepare detailed cost analyses of building construction projects and acquired properties to classify assets for proper tax depreciation treatment (cost segregation studies)
  • Review capital maintenance, repair and improvement expenditures for proper tax accounting treatment
  • Create and maintain fixed asset tax depreciation systems using a variety of software platforms

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 90 credits completed towards a B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university focused on Accounting, Civil Engineering, or Architecture.
  • Travel to assigned client locations is required. Must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working toward the successful completion of the CPA exam
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work effectively on a team
  • Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $36 - $43 per hour
