This team considers the full spectrum of people, tech, and process to help others at Bain achieve their goals. We aim to understand our partners in the business so well that our proposed architectures, apps, and automations really do improve their work lives. If you’re the sort of person who embraces change, who has an entrepreneurial spirit, and who friends and family still call for tech advice, this might be a great team for you.

WHERE YOU'LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

The Director ultimately owns the success of the product line, ensuring benefits are delivered back to the business. This role splits time between evaluating new requests, managing execution of existing requests, and supervising the overall team.

  • Makes and executes key decisions on product strategy and direction
  • Elevates potential ‘backlog breaking’ requests or urgent prioritization concerns to senior leadership as needed
  • Manage vendors - Evaluate new vendors, identifying red flags early, engaging in contract negotiation, and ultimately holding vendors accountable
  • Evaluates tradeoffs, removes roadblocks, and makes critical decisions at scale, across several products
  • Leverage insights across domains, based on insights and prior experience
  • Anticipate and proactively approach operational challenges with products within the area of responsibility
Team Management
  • Directly manage a team who may then in turn manage others. Ensure team culture creates a positive work experience for all team members
  • Ensure full teams' continued professional development including identifying development opportunities, coaching/mentoring all levels of the organization, reviewing skill plans, suggesting trainings and the writing and delivery of consensus reviews
  • Perform capacity planning to inform and recommend evolving team shape and size, skill development, out-sourcing opportunities
ABOUT YOU
  • Experience owning outcomes across a portfolio of products or initiatives with significant business impact
  • Experience setting product direction and making prioritization decisions at an organizational level, balancing strategy, delivery capacity, and business outcomes
  • Experience leading and developing managers and senior individual contributors, with accountability for performance and results
  • Experience partnering with executive stakeholders to frame decisions, align priorities, and drive progress on complex initiatives
  • Experience operating within Agile environments at scale, guiding planning, delivery, and continuous improvement across teams
