Job summary

Verse Medical, Inc. is seeking a Talent Manager to build and lead our recruiting team in New York City. You will own daily execution of the recruiting engine, hire and mentor recruiters, and partner with leadership to ensure we have the right people in place as we scale.

This zero-to-one role requires comfort with ambiguity, a track record of building recruiting functions, and a passion for improving healthcare through talent. Hybrid work with 4 days in-office in NYC.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, or equivalent, including direct experience managing recruiters
• Experience building and scaling a recruiting function in fast-paced startups; healthcare/health-tech is a plus
• Demonstrated success hiring and developing recruiting talent
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
• Comfort operating with ambiguity and building process
• Passion for healthcare mission and impact

Responsibilities

YOUR IMPACT: HOW YOU'LL HELP US HEAL A BROKEN SYSTEM

Verse Medical is scaling fast, and our Talent function needs to scale with it. As Talent Manager, you'll build and lead the team that closes our roles. You'll own the day to day execution of our recruiting engine, hire and develop the recruiters and sourcers who report to you, and partner directly with leadership so we have the right people in place when we need them.

This is a zero-to-one opportunity. You're building the team and the playbook, not inheriting either one. This role is for someone who thrives on ambiguity, wants the responsibility of developing other recruiters, and is ready to leave a mark on how Verse Medical hires for years to come.

WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE: A GLIMPSE INTO YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS

Within your first year, you'll have the opportunity to:

• Team Leadership & Development: Directly manage, coach, and grow a team of recruiters and sourcers. Set clear goals, give real‑time feedback, and build a culture of accountability and high performance.
• Executive & Critical Searches: Personally lead full‑cycle recruitment for your team's most senior, specialized, or sensitive roles, acting as closer when it counts.
• Strategic Workforce Planning: Partner with department leaders and the executive team on org design, headcount planning, and market‑informed hiring strategy.
• Process & Systems Ownership: Own and continuously improve our hiring lifecycle: structured interview design, employer branding, and how we use Ashby, BrightHire, and Juicebox. The goal is a function that scales without breaking.
• Data-Driven Reporting: Own pipeline forecasting and compensation benchmarking, and translate recruiting metrics into clear, actionable updates for leadership.
• Candidate Experience at Scale: Champion obsessive candidate care across the org, ensuring every interaction reflects our mission and values.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING: THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL NEED

• 6+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, or equivalent experience, including direct experience managing, mentoring, or leading other recruiters
• A track record of building and scaling a recruiting function, ideally in a fast‑paced, high‑growth startup; healthcare or health‑tech experience is a strong plus
• Demonstrated success hiring and developing high-performing recruiting talent
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
• Comfort operating with real ambiguity, and building process rather than just following it
• A passion for our mission and for making an impact in healthcare
