The position emphasizes building and governing Tableau practices, supporting servers, and driving Center of Excellence initiatives while partnering with business stakeholders to translate requirements

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in Business Intelligence software development and maintenance.
  • 2+ years of hands-on Tableau development experience.
  • 1+ years of Tableau Server administration experience in an enterprise environment.
  • Expert knowledge of Tableau development practices, techniques, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong experience developing Tableau dashboards, reports, visualizations, and BI solutions.
  • Experience with Tableau Server installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and support.
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, dashboard development, and report design concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, maintain, and support the enterprise Tableau Server environment.
  • Monitor Tableau Server performance, availability, security, users, permissions, and operational health.
  • Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards, reports, visualizations, and BI solutions based on business requirements.
  • Serve as a centralized Tableau Center of Excellence and provide guidance, standards, best practices, and support to internal Tableau users.
  • Establish and maintain an internal Tableau user community and facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate requirements into effective Tableau solutions.
  • Provide Tableau training, coaching, documentation, and ongoing support to users with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Design and implement dashboards and reports using effective data visualization and report design practices.
  • Develop and maintain data models supporting Tableau reporting and analytics.
  • Analyze data sources and assess the impact of changes to data models, reports, dashboards, and business processes.
  • Work with SQL, data management processes, SaaS platforms, and related technologies to support BI solutions.
  • Support Tableau Server installation, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Establish and maintain Tableau development practices, standards, governance, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and business representatives to resolve data, reporting, and Tableau platform issues.
  • Troubleshoot application and dashboard issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives involving Tableau, Business Intelligence, data management, and reporting.

Job description

Onset is seeking a dynamic, customer-oriented, and experienced Tableau Administrator/Developer to join the Information Technology Division of the Department of Health and Human Services. The ideal candidate will combine strong Tableau development and administration expertise with business intelligence, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement skills.

This role will interface with key business stakeholders to deliver effective Business Intelligence solutions by leveraging Tableau, data, and technical expertise. The position will support the ongoing administration, configuration, maintenance, and operational support of the Tableau platform while also serving as a centralized Center of Excellence for Tableau users across the organization.

Approximately 25% of the role will focus on Tableau Server administration, configuration, maintenance, and operational support. Approximately 50% will focus on establishing and supporting a centralized Tableau Center of Excellence, including internal user group management, stakeholder consultation, and Tableau training. The remaining 25% will focus on consultation and development of Tableau dashboards, reports, and other BI content.
