Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Systems Verification Engineer I in St. Paul, MN. This onsite role focuses on test execution, method development for motion control and robotics, and fixture design. You will contribute EE/HW/SW tasks and code in LabVIEW and Python to support verification efforts.

You will collaborate across teams to plan, execute test cases, and drive project deliverables in alignment with FDA/ISO practices. A fast-paced, quality-focused environment awaits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Test Execution and data analysis to verify system performance.
  • Develop test methods for motion control, robotics, and validation.
  • Design fixtures (ECAD/MCAD) for test setups and integration.
  • Contribute electrical, hardware, and software engineering efforts.
  • Programming in LabVIEW and Python to support verification tasks.
  • Lead testing projects, estimate plans, and coordinate tasks.

Job Title: Systems Verification Engineer I
Location: St. Paul, MN 55117
Duration: 12 Months
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Job Description:

We are ideally seeking a motivated self starter Systems Engineer to join our Systems Verification team. The Systems Engineer will bring testing expertise and leadership assistance to the innovative and fast-paced Systems Verification team. This high caliber, motivated, and passionate individual will also be a key part to an evolving organization created in the past few years.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities include:
  • Test Execution, Data Analysis. Documentation
  • Test Method Development (Motion Control, Robotics) and Validation
  • Fixture Design (ECAD/MCAD) in addition to Motion Control/Robotics
  • EE/HW/SW Eng contributions related to above/below
  • Programming (LabVIEW, Python)
Responsibilities may also include:
  • Assist with, and lead, testing projects including estimation, planning, coordination, project deliverables, and directing the day to day tasks of others
  • Work independently and as a team member to plan, write, and execute test cases according to Abbott practices, FDA regulatory, and ISO standard procedures
  • Participate in the requirements, hazard analysis, and design reviews for new features
  • Involvement in detail analysis, technical reviews, and process improvements
General Expectations:
  • Display initiative, leadership, and coaching skills including continuous quality/engineering process improvement, project leadership, and team training
  • Evaluate, recommend, and employ test tools to ensure system quality
  • Design new test suites for new features and functionality
  • Provide verification and validation perspective to R&D’s ongoing product development: requirements, product and test designs, defect reviews, user workflows, and field complaint investigations.
  • Maintain up-to-date status and continuing proficiency in the field of system test engineering.
Experience and Education Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree completion/progress in Engineering Field or equivalent
  • Fundamental understanding of professional system test engineering and development lifecycle management tools
  • Organized, on-time, detailed oriented, and quick learner
  • Awareness of standard project management skills including project leadership
  • Documentation skills in delivering information that adds value to management’s decision-making process
  • Quantitative, analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills
  • Communication – written documentation and presentations/discussions/meetings
  • Ability to build relationships across various levels of an organization
  • Energized attitude, collaborative partner, proactive thinker, self-starter, and team player
Perfered Requirements:
  • Electrical Engineering degree (ideally EE/SW, followed by ME/BioMed)
  • Experienced with electrical fixture development and assembly
  • Co-op/Internship preferred, and 5 to 10+ years of experience ideally (preferably in Med Device)
  • Experience with Altium, SolidWorks, NI LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, Studio 5000, and/or COMSOL
