Job summary

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Systems Test Engineer in Woodland Hills, CA to design, develop, and execute test methodologies for GPS/Navigation systems in advanced aerospace programs. You will troubleshoot issues, report risks to leadership, and work with systems engineers on performance characterization and qualification activities.

The role requires DO-229D Appendix R knowledge, GPS test experience, and eligibility for a security clearance.

Pay Rate: $120.22 per hour

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues that support system integration, build-out, and sell-off activities.
• Communicate project progress, technical findings, and risks to Integration & Test leadership.
• Collaborate with systems engineers to perform architecture characterization studies and evaluate system performance.
• Design, develop, and execute test methodologies for both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment and custom-engineered systems.
• Develop and implement test procedures, algorithms, software tools, and simulations supporting guidance, navigation, and control systems.
• Analyze test results and compile data to support engineering decisions and system improvements.
• Recommend enhancements to testing methodologies, manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment.
• Support verification and validation efforts for GPS integrity and navigation system performance.
• Contribute to system qualification activities while ensuring compliance with applicable aerospace standards and requirements.

Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of related experience; OR
• Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 10 years of related experience; OR
• PhD in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related experience.
• Working knowledge of DO-229D Appendix R.
• Knowledge of TSO/MSO-C145 requirements.
• Experience with test automation and simulation for GPS Integrity Verification and Validation.
• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly desirable qualifications include:

• Knowledge of the DO-178C software development and certification process.
• Hands-on experience with industry-standard test equipment, including:
  • Network analyzers
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Waveform generators
  • Synthesizers
  • Digitizers
  • Signal analyzers
• Experience using Spirent or similar GPS testing equipment.
• Background supporting aerospace, avionics, navigation, guidance, or mission-critical systems.
• Strong technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Pay Details: $120.22 per hour
