Job description

Overview

The Systems Test Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and execution of system-level testing at the Eos Edison HQ test facility. The Test Engineer works cross-functionally with other engineers, professionals, and technicians in R&D, Engineering and Commercial teams. The Test Engineer actively participates on improvement teams and in problem solving, and supports product testing and validation activities.



Responsibilities


  • Accountable for the timely and proper testing of battery system test beds operated by the Product Testing and Integration group. The Test Engineer is responsible for electrical and operational safety of all related test areas and equipment. The Test Engineer is further responsible for processing and communicating test results to all relevant stakeholders.

  • Implement System Test plans across all Edison-based System Test platforms

  • Coordinate testing resources. Communicate backlog issues, if not preventable.

  • Validate hardware and software operation across all Edison-based System Test platforms

  • Analyze data and troubleshoot operations

  • Scale laboratory module testing parameters to System Test Platforms

  • Prepare formal system performance and operation reports

  • Develop System testing protocols, formal Work Instructions and testing templates.

  • Write formal test scripts and reports to perform company required testing

  • Provide an open line of communication with experiment owners and stakeholders for follow up data analysis and testing.

  • Monitor data output and records to ensure highest level of integrity and value

  • Maintain active coordination with other departments to generate data and provide results as needed



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Ability to manage multiple testing projects simultaneously.

  • Exposure and experience with battery test labs and procedures.

  • Knowledge of batteries, inverters and related power electronics equipment.

  • Knowledge of interpretation of electrical results related to cells and batteries.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • HTML, Python or other programming skills strongly preferred.

  • Experience with low and high-voltage systems and related safety protocols highly desired.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and rigorous attention to detail required.

  • Strong working knowledge of testing rechargeable cells, batteries and systems.



Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in science/engineering field required.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience.



Travel


  • Local Travel

  • Overnight/North America: Less than 10%



Working Conditions


  • Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

  • Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

  • Customer/Partner Locations – Employee may visit customer or partner locations that may be comprised of office, manufacturing floor, laboratory environments and construction sites depending on the location and reason for visit.
