Systems Test and Automation Engineer

Our client is searching for an adaptable Systems Test & Automation Engineer who can evaluate technology from a broad perspective, uncover how interconnected components behave, and look beyond individual testing outcomes to understand overall system performance. This is a highly hands on engineering opportunity involving sophisticated connected electronic products, where you will move between physical hardware, embedded technology, software, automation, and data analysis. You will have the opportunity to shape test approaches, build automation, work directly with devices, investigate unexpected behavior, and collaborate with specialists across multiple engineering disciplines.

This role is hybrid in Covington, LA, with relocation available for the right candidate. Because much of the work involves physical products and test environments, candidates must live within practical reach of the office or be willing to relocate close enough to come onsite quickly when hands on testing is required.

• Create functional, stress, boundary, and failure oriented tests that evaluate product reliability and system interactions.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, and systems engineers to troubleshoot complex issues and verify corrective actions.
• Document test results, defects, configurations, and findings while continually identifying opportunities to strengthen test coverage and methods.

Skill Set

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent education and relevant experience.
• Approximately five or more years of relevant engineering test experience, ideally involving embedded or connected electronic products.
• Broad hands on testing experience spanning physical hardware, embedded firmware or software, and integrated systems.
• Demonstrated ability to use scripting and related technical tools to streamline testing activities, evaluate information, and support efficient troubleshooting and analysis.
• Working electrical and electronics knowledge, including comfort using a multimeter and interpreting basic measurements during troubleshooting.
• Strong systems thinking with the ability to investigate interactions among hardware, firmware, software, interfaces, and test equipment.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot failed tests, analyze technical data, communicate findings, and collaborate effectively with engineering specialists.
• Must live within practical reach of Covington or be willing to relocate, with the flexibility to come onsite quickly when hands on testing is required.
