Job summary

NBT Bank in Norwich, NY is seeking an IT Specialist to maintain and improve computer systems, hardware, and software. You will document, upgrade, and replace components, support user accounts and security, and contribute to production support.

Ideal candidates have an Associate's degree, 3+ years IT experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a team. This role may require night or weekend shifts and a valid driver's license.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $26.42 - $35.22 Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals. Documents, maintains, upgrades or replaces hardware and software systems. Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security and systems groups. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Education and Experience: Associate's degree or equivalent education and experience Minimum 3 years experience in IT related field.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• Must have a positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment.


• Strong PC skills in a Windows environment.


• Familiarity with a variety of I.T. concepts, practices and procedures.


• Basic project management skills and ability to multi-task.

Unique Job Characteristics and Requirements:

• May be required to work nights and/or weekends.


• Valid driver's license.


• Required to possess or to obtain A+ certification within 12 months of employment.

Tasks Performed:

• 35% - Documents, maintains, upgrades, and replaces hardware and software systems. Includes project initiatives and production support.


• 25% - Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs more complex computer systems, hardware and peripherals.


• 20% - Analyzes and trends utilization metrics of various systems.


• 10% - Provide Business Recovery support relating to IT initiatives.


• 10% - Other administrative duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Communicate effectively with internal and/or external customers.


• Stationary 75% of the time or greater.


• Move objects up to a maximum of 10 lbs.
