Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a Systems Security Engineer III to lead security design, implement, and maintain secure IT systems. You will drive high-level incident response and forensics while coordinating with engineering and product teams in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles, experience with NIST/ISO 27001, and a current active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. Hybrid work and travel may be involved as projects demand.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Security, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT security or a related field.
  • In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 9 years of related experience.
  • Advanced understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Experience with security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001.
  • Current/Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

  • CI/CD Optimization & Process Automation: Collaborate with engineering teams to define and execute an automation roadmap, enhance CI/CD pipeline integration, and streamline build, patch, and release processes.
  • Software Configuration Management & CCB Governance: Direct the SCM lifecycle—including facilitating the CCB, managing baseline changes, and controlling the release of baseline CSCIs, build artifacts, and supporting documentation (e.g., RMF packages, KBAs, scripts).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product management and developers to refine requirements, establish acceptance criteria, coordinate UAT, and drive quality early in the SDLC.
