Job summary

Lutron Electronics Company, Inc. is seeking a Systems Sales Engineer for the Commercial Applications team at its Global Headquarters in Coopersburg, PA.

You will apply experience with networked building technologies to design and gain approval for lighting control and other systems connected to customer networks. Responsibilities include working with customer IT, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to understand standards, review architecture, and resolve deployment challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in CS/Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in computer systems, networking, or related areas.
• Willingness to travel ~10% of time and U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Advise customers and sales on network design and deployment of lighting control and related building technologies.
• Collaborate with customer IT, networking, and cybersecurity teams to understand standards and approval processes for connecting building systems.
• Explain and review system architecture, connectivity, and network hardware requirements including switches, routers, VLANs, firewalls, IP addressing, and cloud connectivity.
• Participate in customer meetings and technical reviews to address questions and remove barriers to approval or deployment.
• Review IT questionnaires and documentation; coordinate with IT, engineering, legal and other teams for input.
• Develop and deliver training content to help sales and support teams discuss networking and cybersecurity with customers.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear language for technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Build expertise in networked building technologies and industry practices.
• Identify process improvements to make technical reviews more efficient.

Overview

Lutron is seeking a Systems Sales Engineer to join the Commercial Applications team at our Global Headquarters in Coopersburg, PA. In this role, you’ll apply your experience with networked building technologies to help customers and Lutron teams design and gain approval for lighting control and other building systems connected to customer networks.

You’ll work with customer IT, networking, and cybersecurity teams, as well as building technology stakeholders, sales professionals, and Lutron's IT and engineering teams. You’ll help explain system architecture and network requirements, work through customer security and approval processes, and resolve technical challenges that could affect a project's success. The ideal candidate understands how building control systems are designed and deployed in real customer environments and can communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Advise customers and Lutron sales teams on the network design and deployment of Lutron lighting control systems and related building technologies.
• Work with customer IT, networking, and cybersecurity teams to understand network standards, security requirements, and approval processes for connecting building systems to customer networks.
• Explain and review system architecture, connectivity, and network hardware requirements, including relevant concepts such as switches, routers, VLANs, firewalls, IP addressing, cloud connectivity, and integration protocols (API, BACnet, etc).
• Participate in customer meetings and technical reviews to answer questions, address concerns, and resolve sales barriers to system approval or deployment.
• Review and complete customer IT questionnaires, network requirements, and related technical documentation; coordinate with Lutron IT, engineering, legal, and other teams when specialized input is needed.
• Develop and deliver training and digital support content that helps Lutron sales and support teams discuss building-system networking and cybersecurity with customers.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical language for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Build and share expertise in networked building technologies, customer IT requirements, and industry practices.
• Identify and implement process improvements that make technical reviews more efficient and improve the customer experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field of study required
• Minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA required
• Minimum 5 years work experience working in computer systems, programming language, operating systems, networking, and/or databases required
• Willingness to travel 10% of the time, sometimes with little or no notice
• You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H-1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for this position.
