Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah, GA is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer II to perform system safety analyses in accordance with ARP4761 and ARP4754A, and to support regulatory compliance data packages.

You will develop FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, and CCA, evaluate aircraft systems for hazards, and coordinate with engineering teams to implement safety requirements throughout certification programs and in-service support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 18 months related Engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Two to five years of engineering experience in aerospace, systems engineering, safety engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with system safety methodologies including FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, FMEA, and CCA preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAA certification requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system safety analyses in accordance with ARP4761, ARP4754A, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, and CCA.
  • Evaluate aircraft systems and architectures to identify potential hazards and verify compliance with 14 CFR §25.1309 and related guidance.
  • Support aircraft certification programs through development of safety documentation and regulatory compliance data packages.
  • Coordinate with systems, design, software, hardware, test, and certification engineering disciplines to ensure proper allocation and implementation of safety requirements.
  • Assess engineering changes for safety impacts and compliance implications.
  • Support investigation and resolution of safety-related issues identified during development, certification, production, and in-service operations.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and certification documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, safety review boards, and regulatory meetings.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to system safety processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support aircraft certification programs through development of safety documentation and regulatory compliance data packages.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. 18 months related Engineering experience. Experience credit will be considered for related advance degrees limited to 2 years for Master's and 4 years for PhD in field applicable to the job position.

Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.

Two (2) to five (5) years of engineering experience in aerospace, systems engineering, safety engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience with system safety assessment methodologies including FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, FMEA, and CCA preferred.

Familiarity with FAA certification requirements and aircraft development processes preferred.

Other Requirements
  • Working knowledge of ARP4761, ARP4754A, and 14 CFR Part 25 certification requirements.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams, management, and regulatory authorities.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to develop technical reports and certification documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
Position Purpose

Performs engineering work related to the investigation and the solution of technical problems associated with research, design, development, service and manufacture of Gulfstream aircraft.

Additional Responsibilities

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:

  • Solves typical engineering problems within assigned discipline .
  • Provides technical assistance to engineering staff and contributes to completion of project milestones .
  • Responsible for a complex engineering assignment, or a full project of lesser complexity .
  • Follows established schedules while developing plans for engineering assignments .
  • Obtains appropriate level of supervisor approvals for work accuracy and adequacy .
  • Proficiently applies company/organization policies and procedures .

Additional Functions:

  • Actively works to improve daily processes, and ensures all work meets customer requirements .
  • Maintains a current and up-to-date knowledge of developments and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in assigned field of expertise .

Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Applies knowledge to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity, using a combination of judgement with defined practices and procedures.
  • Failure to achieve results, or erroneous decisions or recommendations, may cause delays in program schedules and/or allocation of additional resources.
  • Ability to convey technical concepts in both written and verbal formats.
  • Contacts are primarily within the organization, with occasional customer contacts on routine issues.
  • Works under general supervision for routine tasks of minor complexity.
  • With supervision/mentorship, can coordinate the activities for lower level engineering staff.

This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
