Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Systems Product Owner (PO) for Secure Systems to lead an Agile Scrum team and drive MBSE-enabled design from concept through program accreditation.

You will coordinate across hardware and software teams, manage budgets and staffing, and ensure cost, schedule, and technical targets are met while collaborating with program leadership on risk and performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Product Owner in Agile environments.
  • Strong MBSE concepts and tools knowledge.
  • Active Secret clearance required before start; US citizenship.
  • Typically STEM degree with 5+ years relevant experience, or advanced degree with 3+ years.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Systems Engineering Scrum Team through design and development.

Systems Product Owner (PO) – Secure Systems

Location: US-IA-CEDAR RAPIDS-137 – 855 35Th St NE – BLDG 137

Workplace: Onsite

Security Clearance: Secret – Current, active required on day 1

About the Role

Collaborate with portfolio teams to design, test, and certify cross‑domain technologies and cryptographic products. Lead the Scrum Team, ensuring focus on developing the right solutions that transition from low TRL through program of record accreditation and factory production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a Systems Engineering Scrum Team through design and development efforts.
  • Communicate with multiple levels of management, team members, and customers.
  • Interface with multiple Hardware and Software Scrum Teams to manage dependencies and technical challenges.
  • Prepare and maintain project plans, budgets, and staffing requirements to meet action items and quality expectations.
  • Estimate costs, resources, and time to ensure business targets are met.
  • Maintain and provide analysis of trends, performance, resource cost, and forecasting reports.
  • Gather and analyze data to monitor projects’ progress in terms of cost, schedule, and technical specifications.
  • Meet with the project team regularly to manage performance, status, open issues, and tasks.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and work closely with program leadership to manage tasks and workflow.
  • Monitor and assess project issues, escalating when necessary, and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer‑satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Support proposal and bid activities, utilizing estimation tools.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience operating as a Product Owner in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with Model‑Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools.
  • Active and transferable Secret clearance required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Typical requirement: STEM degree and minimum 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree and minimum 3 years experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exceptional communication skills, experience presenting technical data to program management.
  • Experience capturing customer requirements, design concept development, and deriving/tracing system and sub‑system level requirements.
  • Experience with peer review processes, configuration and change management.
  • Familiarity with bidding and project/task estimation tools.
  • Experience conducting root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
