Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) seeks a driven Systems Design Engineer - Power & AI to join the Client and Graphic System Architecture team in Austin/Markham. You will define products, develop scalable automation, and drive cross-functional validation of power-aware architectures for next-gen hardware.

Qualifications

  • System Power Analysis & Optimization: analyze platform power, power-performance tradeoffs, battery life impacts, thermal constraints, and optimize system-level behavior.
  • AI Systems Architecture & Performance Analysis: understand AI workloads at system level including memory, compute, power, performance, user experience, and platform requirements.
  • Platform Validation, Debug & Automation: develop scripts/tools, perform board/platform-level debugging, use lab equipment, root-cause issues, and drive cross-functional feature validation.
  • Programming/scripting skills (C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python).
  • Debug techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience with lab equipment including protocol/logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with board/platform-level debug, delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization.
  • Knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategies

Responsibilities

  • Driving technical innovation to improve AMD's capabilities across product development and validation, including tool and script development, methodological enhancement, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Develop and automate System Power Modeling.
  • Develop new Platform Management Framework feature sets.
  • Work with multiple teams and track test execution to ensure features are validated and optimized on time.
  • Collaborate with supporting technical teams.
  • Engage in other software/hardware modeling frameworks.
  • Lead collaborative approaches with multiple teams.

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Systems Design Engineer - Power & AI to join our growing Client and Graphic System Architecture team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s products, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market. The Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

THE PERSON:

As a Systems Design Engineer, you will drive scalable and automated solutions. In this high visibility position, your systems engineering expertise will be necessary to define products, develop solutions, assess root causes, proof of concepts and produce solution resolutions.and produce solution resolutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering
