Job summary

Terran Orbital in Irvine is seeking an experienced Systems Integration Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team responsible for building, integrating, and testing space vehicles from sub-system to system levels. This role supports a Weekday shift (Mon-Thu, 6:00AM-4:30PM) with hands-on design, debugging, and collaboration to enable robust vehicle testing and manufacturability.

Applicants should have a STEM degree, 0+ years for Associate or 2+ years for Engineer, U.S.

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Systems Integration Engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager, Systems Integration & Test the Systems Integration Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team to build, integrate, and test space vehicles at both the sub-system and system levels.

This role is on our Weekday shift (Monday - Thursday) from 6:00AM - 4:30PM. We are open to a level I (Associate Engineer) or level II (Engineer) for this position.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design assemblyand testing campaigns.
  • Write, review, and executeassemblyand testprocedures.
  • Manage work orders and drive nonconformances.
  • Resolve electrical and mechanical issues, debugging at the satellite system and sub-system level.
  • Responsible for enabling day-to-day execution of the vehicle integration and test flow.
  • Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration.
  • Interface with engineers and technicians to advance to larger-scale manufacturing and automation.
  • Design and develop tools and hardware to enable vehicle assembly and ensure vehicle testing abilities.
  • The position will require being hands‑on and will require standing for extended periods.
  • Able to workon multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative, original solutions.
  • Plans multiple projects simultaneously. Estimates, tracks,andcompletes project on time within budget.
  • Results are key to successful completion of major projectsandprograms.
  • Individual Contributor. Assigned multi‑responsible task areas, may assigntask to associate engineers or other engineers. Responsiblefor reviewingwork.
  • Is a subject matter expert on at least one system under specialty and with a detailed understanding of how multiple systems interact. Develops innovative solutions to unique problems. Professional abilitiesandtechnical accomplishments are recognized throughout the department.
  • Works mostly independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provides guidance tothegroup.
  • Work is reviewed infrequently. Outcomes reviewed by department head.
  • Exercises substantial initiativeandjudgment in work methods and in interpreting goals.
  • Effectively train people outside work group.
  • Able to give effective presentations to critical and high-level customers. Effectively represent work group on review panels and cross‑organizational teams. Can write convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field
  • 0+ years (Associate Engineer - level I) of relevant experience
  • 2+ years (Engineer - level II) of relevant experience
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
Additional Differentiators
  • Master's degree in a relevant STEM field
  • Experience with assembly, integration, and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and structural systems, including, but not limited to, vibration, shock, thermal, vacuum, and radiation testing.
  • Experience with electrical debugging of PCBassemblies, including the ability to read electrical schematics
  • Documentation and configuration management experience
  • Experience writing test plans and procedures and providing go/no-go judgment
  • Experience in a production environment within the aerospace industry,particularly a cleanroom with ESD precautions
  • The ability to read and write basic code in any primary programming language
  • Experience using Linux-based operating systems
Salary Ranges

Associate Systems Integration Engineer (Level I) - $80k to $95k

Systems Integration Engineer (Level II) - $85k to $125k

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Salary Range

$80,000 - $125,000 USD
