fab2 in Austin, TX is seeking a Software Integration Engineer to ensure semiconductor manufacturing equipment works end to end. You will coordinate firmware, control software, electronics, and actuators to move from prototype to production-ready tools, wearing multiple hats from design to testing.

This role suits someone with a software, electronics, or robotics background who thrives on physical systems and cross-disciplinary collaboration. On-site in Austin, TX with a startup environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience developing software for systems that control physical hardware.
• Proficiency in C, Python, and Rust.
• Working knowledge of electronics including reading schematics, scopes, and logic analyzers.
• Experience with electromechanical actuators.
• Ability to root‑cause problems across software and hardware boundaries.
• Clear communication of technical issues to engineers from different disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner and software point of contact for semiconductor manufacturing equipment from prototype through production.
• Lead bring‑up, debug, and engineering tests of new hardware.
• Write and modify control software and firmware (C, Rust, Python) to bring up new hardware and integrate subsystems.
• Translate hardware changes into software requirements.
• Use data analysis to triage problems and identify root causes.
• Drive fixes across firmware, electronics, mechanical, and process teams.
• Participate in system-level FMEA and define interfaces and requirements.
• Own integration schedules and track milestones and dependencies.
• Communicate constraints and tradeoffs across software, hardware, and electrical design changes.
