Job description

The Systems Integration Specialist is responsible for bridging the gap between legacy data environments and modern enterprise platforms. You will lead the technical migration of MS Access and Oracle databases into the IFS ecosystem while ensuring that engineering design tools (AutoCAD) are optimized through custom programming. This role combines deep database management with business intelligence and cross-functional collaboration to eliminate technical debt and streamline architectural integrity.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Lead the technical transition of legacy MS Access and Oracle AS8 databases into the IFS platform, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption to utility operations.
• Provide ongoing Tier 3 support and maintenance for existing Oracle and MS Access-based tools until they are fully decommissioned or migrated.
• Develop and enhance AutoCAD functionalities using Lisp and VBA to streamline engineering workflows and reduce manual drafting time.
• Design, deploy, and maintain complex Power BI dashboards that integrate multi-source data to provide real-time insights into grid performance or project health.
• Build functional prototypes and Proofs of Concept (POCs) for IFS integrations to validate architectural decisions before full-scale deployment.
• Proactively identify "technical debt" within legacy codebases and integrated systems, implementing refactoring strategies to improve long-term system stability.
• Partner with IT, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure all digital solutions align with ComEd’s broader architectural integrity and security standards.
• Evaluate and recommend third-party automation tools or software integrations (such as Adobe Pro/Nitro Pro) to eliminate repetitive administrative tasks and improve document handling.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience modernizing legacy technologies with skills in migrating MS Access database and Oracle AS8 into IFS.
• Ability to develop prototypes and proofs of concept for IFS and integrated systems.
• Maintain existing systems built from Oracle and MS Access databases.
• Ability to enhance and automate AutoCAD tools using Lisp and VBA.
• 2 or more years building and maintaining Power BI dashboards with multi source data integration.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure system interoperability and architectural integrity.
• Identify and resolve technical debt across legacy and modern systems.
• Experience evaluating and recommending tools for automating repetitive functions.
• Document architectures, integrations, and technical decisions for maintainability.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience in AutoCAD usage and installation, Power BI Gateway installation and maintenance, Visual Basic programming, experience integrating Adobe Pro and Nitro Pro into applications.
