Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Systems Forensic Examiner in our Linthicum, MD office to support a DoD customer. You will work on cyber investigations, digital forensics, threat analysis, and mission support in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities include examining hard drives and devices, performing forensic analysis, preservation, data recovery, eDiscovery, and reporting. Applicants should have TS clearance eligibility and relevant forensic tool experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years with BS/BA; 6+ years with MS/MA; 4 extra years can substitute for a degree.
• 4+ years in digital forensics across Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS.
• Experience writing technical reports.
• Experience with EnCase, FTK, X-Ways, Axiom, Forensic Explorer, Cellebrite.
• Experience identifying and analyzing malware.
• Formal training in computer science or forensics.
• Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Systems Forensic Examiner in our Linthicum, MD office in support of our Department of Defense (DoD) customer as part of a highly talented, highly motivated, and high-performing team. Using a wide variety of forensic tools, the Systems Forensic Examiner examines the hard drives of computers, storage devices, cell phones, PDA's, or any electronic device that may hold evidence that could be used in a court of law.

• Performs forensic analysis of digital information and gathers and handles evidence.
• Performs a variety of forensic and electronic discovery services, including digital evidence preservation, forensic analysis, data recovery, tape recovery, electronic mail extraction, and database examination.
• Employs forensic tools and techniques to crack files and system passwords, detect steganography and recover deleted, fragmented and corrupted data from digital media of all types.
• Observes proper evidence custody and control procedures, documents procedures and findings in a manner suitable for courtroom presentation and prepares comprehensive written notes and reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; However, four years of additional experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelors degree
• At least 4 years experience conducting digital forensics on a variety of media, including Windows, OS X, Linux, Android and iOS
• Experience writing Technical Reports, detailing results of analysis
• Experience with EnCase, FTK, X-Ways, Axiom, Forensic Explorer, Cellebrite and other forensic tools
• Experience identifying and analyzing malware
• Formalized training in the areas of computer science, forensics, etc.
• Requires an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility

Preferred Additional Skills

• One or more related certifications such as the EnCE, CFCE, CCE, or CISSP
• Knowledge of a programming or scripting language
• Experience with volatile memory analysis

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
