Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Systems Engineer Intern to join the Windsor Locks, CT team. The role provides systems engineering support across assigned programs, reporting to a Systems Integration Manager.

Responsibilities include developing engine control system requirements, analyses, integration, and verification activities. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external customers, supporting validation, testing, and RCCA-driven problem resolution.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced STEM degree and enrolled through the internship.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship.
  • Experience may be obtained via on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • Active or eligible to obtain DoD Secret clearance (preferred).
  • Aerospace engineering internship or coop experience (preferred).
  • Experience with gas turbine engines, aircraft systems, or similar (preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, DOORS/DXL, MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape/Dymola, SysML/MagicDraw/Cameo (preferred).
  • Understanding of system controls, dynamics modeling, verification and validation (preferred).
  • Strong communication & teamwork skills; experience presenting (preferred).
  • Strong analytical capability; ability to think at the system level (preferred).

We are seeking a Systems Engineer Intern to work in Windsor Locks, CT. This position reports to a Systems Integration Manager and is responsible for providing systems engineering support across assigned programs.

  • Develop, manage, and allocate requirements for engine control systems.
  • Perform control system analyses to support requirements development and verification activities for engine control system products.
  • Integrate engine control system components and subsystems.
  • Coordinate requirements and verification plans across multidisciplinary teams within Collins and with external customers.
  • Support the validation and verification of product requirements through analysis, development testing, and acceptance/qualification/certification testing
  • Analyze engine parameter data, support investigations using Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies and identify issues down to the component level for resolution by the responsible Integrated Project Team (IPT).
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEMP) and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Active or eligible to obtain DoD Secret clearance
  • Aerospace engineering internship, coop, and/or school project team experience
  • Experience with gas turbine engines, aircraft systems, or comparable systems

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
