Job summary

General Atomics (GA), a leading high‑tech systems company, is seeking an experienced Systems Engineering IPT Lead for a small satellite development program. You will lead the SE IPT and be accountable for cost and schedule execution on the assigned program.

You will oversee MBSE activities, engage external stakeholders, and ensure IPT work products meet the project plan, requirements, and milestones. A DoD Top Secret/TS clearance is required, with potential TS/SCI access.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in engineering or related technical discipline with 7+ years (PhD) or 10+ years (Masters) experience, substituteable by equivalent engineering experience.
• Experience in space domain and satellite segment design is required.
• Prior IPT or technical lead experience is strongly desired.
• Experience with MBSE approaches and cross‑functional leadership is expected.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for technical, cost and schedule execution of the Systems Engineering IPT.
• Provide technical oversight and direction for SE IPT members across multiple domains.
• Define IMS tasks and control accounts to meet program milestones.
• Engage with customers, subcontractors, and mission partners to ensure SOI adherence.

Our Space Systems team is looking to add a Systems Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead support a small satellite development program. In this role, you’ll lead the Systems Engineering IPT and be accountable for cost and schedule execution for the Systems Engineering effort on your assigned program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accountable for technical, cost and schedule execution of the program’s Systems Engineering IPT.
• Ensures all IPT work products are produced in accordance with the project plan to satisfy the customer requirements.
• Ensures all IPT work product are completed on cost and schedule.
• Define IMS tasks required to complete IPT scope of work to achieve program milestones.
• Control account manager for assigned control accounts.
• Provide technical oversight and direction of the Systems Engineering IPT for assigned program. SE IPT typically includes: Mission and Space Vehicle SE, Cyber Security SE, Specialty Engineering, Launch System Integration SE, modeling & simulation, and system-level test.
• Responsible for external stakeholder engagement for IPT’s scope of work frequently collaborating with customers, subcontractors and mission partners.
• Using traditional and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches lead and contribute to the development all SE work products which may include:
• CONOPS
• System Architecture
• Requirements and Interface Control Documents
• Mission and System Analysis
• Trade Studies
• Lead effort for program requirement verification through the assembly, integration, and test process, including system-level test.
• Contributes to conduct of program design and readiness reviews.
• Collaborating with SE leadership and peers to ensure consistent implementation of SE practices across programs.
• Opportunities will arise to support internal development and new business opportunities.

Job Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
• Must have prior experience in space domain and satellite segment design.
• Prior experience as an IPT lead or technical lead strongly desired.
• Familiarity with the following tools is desired: Cameo, Magic Draw, DOORS, STK, Atlassian (JIRA, Confluence).
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
• Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems. Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
• Active DoD Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance is required with ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Salary range: 116,480 - 208,505
