Job summary

RTI Consulting, LLC is seeking a systems engineer to perform high‑level engineering tasks at Fort Meade, MD. Responsibilities include defining concepts of operations, documenting requirements, and guiding system design to support DoD programs.

You will coordinate with customers and project teams to ensure solutions meet mission needs while maintaining strict security clearances. A TS with SCI and full polygraph is required, with typical engineering lifecycle involvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's/Doctoral degree with fewer years of experience.
• Degree must be in engineering or a relevant technical field (e.g., computer science, mathematics, physics).
• If the program is not ABET-accredited, it must include specified coursework as described in the listing.

Location and Clearance

Location: Fort Meade, MD - 1 FTE Clearance Required: Current DoD Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI and Full Polygraph

Position Description

Perform systems /engineering functions at a high-level: including defining and documenting concept of operations, operational/system requirements, and use cases to support system development; performing high-level system design; specifying system/component performance and interface requirements; and developing installation, integration, and acceptance test plans. Continuously assess existing organizational processes and work products to ensure they best facilitate strategic and tactical efforts. Coordinate with customers, project teams, and related organizations to ensure solutions satisfy the requirements. Define and communicate a shared technical and architectural vision for the solutions developed by the product teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering plus 7 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree plus 3 years of relevant experience. Degree must be in either Engineering or a relevant technical field (for example, computer science, mathematics, or physics).
• For all of the above degrees, if program is not Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc (ABET) accredited, it must include specified coursework *
• Specified coursework includes courses in differential and integral calculus and 5 of the following 18 areas: * (a) statics or dynamics, * (b) strength of materials/stress-strain relationships, * (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics, * (d) thermodynamics, * (e) electromagnetic fields, * (f) nature and properties of materials/relating particle and aggregate structure to properties, * (g) solid state electronics, * (h) microprocessor applications, * (i) computer systems, * (j) signal processing, * (k) digital design, * (l) systems and control theory, * (m) circuits or generalized circuits, * (n) communication systems, * (o) power systems, * (p) computer networks, * (q) software development, * (r) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, or soil mechanics.
• Relevant experience must be in engineering systems over their lifecycle (for example, conception, design & development, testing, production/deployment, operation, maintenance & support, decommissioning).
