Qualifications include 15+ years in enterprise IT, Active Directory, PKI, ICAM, Windows/Linux, PowerShell, Ansible, and DevOps pipelines, plus Security+. TS/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Over 15 years of enterprise IT experience in federal or DoD environments.
• Experience with Active Directory services, PKI, ICAM, and enterprise infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Familiarity with GPO, DNS, AD operations and troubleshooting.
• Strong requirements analysis, documentation, communication, and training skills.
• Security+ certification and TS/SCI clearance are required.

Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer SME to support a company focused on delivering end-to-end enterprise IT services and infrastructure support for a mission-critical federal environment. This position is on-site in Newington, VA. The Systems Engineer SME will lead systems engineering initiatives, develop and refine technical requirements, and ensure successful delivery and transition of enterprise capabilities into operations. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact mission success by designing and implementing sustainable solutions within a complex, secure environment.

Responsibilities for the Systems Engineer SME include:

• Collaborate with program leadership, engineering teams, and stakeholders to align technical requirements with mission objectives.
• Lead systems engineering efforts throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements development, solution design, implementation, and operational transition.
• Develop technical documentation including build guides, data flow diagrams, and operational transition materials.
• Identify and resolve operational gaps while ensuring long-term supportability and sustainability of deployed solutions.
• Support enterprise infrastructure modernization efforts through automation, systems integration, and process improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications for the Systems Engineer SME include:

• 15+ years of enterprise IT experience supporting complex federal or DoD environments.
• Experience with Active Directory services (GPO, DNS, AD operations and troubleshooting), PKI environments, ICAM, enterprise infrastructure, and Windows/Linux operating systems.
• Proficiency with automation and modernization technologies including PowerShell, Ansible Automation Platform, and DevOps pipelines.
• Strong systems engineering, requirements analysis, documentation, communication, and training experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Systems Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• Security+ certification required.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Compensation for the Systems Engineer SME include:

• Salary Range: Depending on experience
