Job summary

Torch Technologies in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with networking and cloud experience to join a team supporting the Air Force Human Resources Systems Division (AF HRSD) at Randolph AFB in the San Antonio, TX area.

You will apply broad systems engineering knowledge to sustain, operate, and maintain the network infrastructure for HR IT systems, including migration phases to Cloud One and post-migration support for uninterrupted access for interface partners.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Master's or Doctorate Degree in a related field and 10 years of professional experience.
• Experience with DoD IT networks and services such as connectivity requirements (e.g., GCDS, SCCA, BCAP, Cloud Computing SRG).
• Experience providing end-to-end networking engineering support for HR IT systems.
• Experience monitoring, sustaining, and troubleshooting network connections with critical interface partners.
• Experience implementing security controls per DoD/AF guidance.

Responsibilities

• Identify, describe, and apply IT acquisition strategies, best practices, IT-related performance measures and quality management in support of acquisition planning, information assurance/cybersecurity, test and evaluation processes, verification and validation processes, and/or fielding and sustaining IT/software systems.
• Conduct reviews on program portfolios to evaluate and recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to assure performance.
• Perform program reviews to evaluate proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design and test results to ensure performance per specifications.
• Prepare technical documentation defining system/subsystem characteristics.
• Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using engineering principles.
• Perform validation of software systems including analyses/evaluation criteria and procedures, analyses/evaluation of results, and related recommendations.
• Provide Agile and Digital system/program engineering, technical support and training across acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, evolution and deployment.

Torch Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer (Senior) with networking experience and cloud Experience to join a team to support the development and sustainment of systems assigned to the Air Force Human Resources Systems Division (AF HRSD) headquartered at Randolph AFB (San Antonio, TX area). The person that fills this position will apply their systems engineering expertise to support the sustainment, operations, and maintenance of the network infrastructure for the Human Resources (HR) Information Technology (IT) Systems. This position will provide critical network engineering support for the legacy systems at DISA, during the migration phase, and post-migration phase of the Military Personnel Database (MilPDS) within the Cloud One environment to ensure uninterrupted customer and interface partner access. This position supports the AFLCMC/GB Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate (BES)/GBH Human Resources Systems Division.

The Systems Engineer Senior requires a highly self-motivated individual. This individual will perform work that applies a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of Agile-based software engineering with responsibilities such as, but not limited to:

• Identify, describe, and apply emerging IT acquisition strategies, best practices, IT-related performance measures and quality management in support of acquisition planning, information assurance/cybersecurity, test and evaluation processes, verification and validation processes, and/or fielding and sustaining of IT/software systems;
• Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications;
• Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications;
• Prepare technical documentation which defines, specifies, and recommends system/subsystem characteristics;
• Prepare management reports and conducts technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using application of engineering principles;
• Perform validation of software systems including development of analyses/evaluation criteria and procedures, analyses/evaluation of results, and related recommendations;
• Provide Agile and Digital system/program engineering, technical support and technical training to support programs/initiatives including, but not limited to, acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight;
• Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with AF Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes; and,
• Perform all (system) engineering according to applicable DoW, AF, AFMC directives, instructions, and manuals, to include, but not be limited to, AFI 63-101, AFI 63-144, AFI 63-1202, AFI 99-103 and their updates, successors (as happens over time).
