Systems Engineer (8+ yrs experience), Scott AFB, IL

Job Description:

Configure and maintain two private classified networks, one currently comprised of a domain controller, a multiple node high-performance computing cluster (based upon Microsoft Windows HPC Server 2008 R2) utilizing VMware, MySQL database

server, managed McAfee antivirus server, Cohesity backup solution, networked printer, and workstations; the other comprised of a Solaris UNIX OS server.

Create options for network and computer upgrades, to include estimated cost and submissions of draft Cyberspace Infrastructure Planning System (CIPS) requirements.

Install and update mission required specialized software to include AMOS, CMARPS, AMP, AMP-PAT, Command, JFAST, JMP, JMPS, Tableau, R, Python, MAAP-TK, and any other specialized software required for AMC/A9’s

mission. Distribute hardware and software. Organize and maintain positive control of all software licensing agreements.

Know and apply computer policies, authorized system configurations, system security procedures, and terminology in both the work environment and support areas. Perform duties and attend required meetings as Cybersecurity Liaison (CL).

Manage the Cohesity backup solution to prevent potential data loss from malfunctions and preserve database integrity. Assist users to perform user data backups as required.

Research, create and test future Microsoft high-performance computing cluster server solutions and upgrade capabilities as required. Install, configure, and maintain all cluster desktop PCs, laptops, servers, printers, scanners, and monitors to ensure systems availability during core operating hours and on-site response within 24 hours, or a plan of action if a fix is not possible within 24 hours.

Know and apply Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM) and Equipment Custodian (EC) responsibilities, to include maintaining documentation, inventory of equipment, receipt of equipment from warehouse, and software configuration for all workstations, laptops, servers, and printers.

Meet and maintain currency in the certification and experience requirements as outlined in DoD Directive 8140 (Cyberspace Workforce Management) and DoD Manual 8570.01-M (Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program)

for an Information Assurance Manager Level I, which includes Security+ certification. Comply with all the information assurance requirements as described in DoD Directive 8140 and DoD Manual 8570.01-M. Must have knowledge, expertise, and experience of IT, network security, control measures, practices, and techniques, to assist with protection of IT assets. Also

possess superior knowledge of network and communication protocols and their application towards solving specific, highly technical network configuration issues and problems.

Assist Mission Partner and/or personnel with SharePoint site, to include content management and user permissions, posting computer-related topics.

Ensure hardware and software complies with Air Force (AF) standards.

Assist Client Support Technicians (CSTs) in the maintenance, configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of all computer desktop, laptop/docking station/port replicator and notebook equipment, including computers, monitors, printers, scanners, and digital cameras. Set up, maintain, configure, and troubleshoot personal computers (PCs)/laptops with prescribed operating system, including all associated hardware and software.

Install and maintain new equipment and software, including patches as required. Monitor and maintain system security. Review and correct items identified by security scans, and complete actions required by Time Compliance Network Orders (TCNOs), or Maintenance Tasking Orders (MTO).
