Qualifications

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Engineer - Level 7 Consultant, Mission Modeling Simulation, located in Chandler, AZ. You will serve as an enterprise‑level technical authority for modeling, simulation, and analysis of missile and interceptor systems. In this highly senior role, you will define Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) strategy, lead cross‑program mission and campaign analyses, and provide independent technical assessments that guide portfolio‑level decisions, investment strategies, and future capability development. You will represent the organization as a recognized expert to customers and external stakeholders and will shape the evolution of our mission engineering and MS&A capabilities. This position is 100% on site in Chandler, AZ (strongly preferred). Remote candidates may also be considered You will work with various engineering disciplines (systems, GNC, seeker/sensor, software, mission, integration & test, etc.) and business development to:

  • Define and lead enterprise‑level MS&A strategy, including digital engineering and model‑based approaches across multiple programs and product lines
  • Lead cross‑program mission engineering and campaign‑level operations analyses to inform capability roadmaps and investment decisions
  • Provide independent technical assessments, red/blue teaming, and risk evaluations of architectures, requirements, and operational concepts
  • Represent the organization as a technical authority in customer engagements, gate reviews, and external technical forums, shaping customer requirements and CONOPS through analysis‑backed insights
  • Drive innovation in MS&A tools, frameworks, and methodologies, including advanced visualization, real‑time simulation, and digital twin implementations
  • Sponsor and oversee collaborations with other disciplines and external partners (government labs, universities, industry) in advanced MS&A and mission analysis
  • Build and sustain communities of practice, standards, and training for MS&A; mentor multiple teams and develop succession plans for technical leadership
Basic Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Active US Government Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering; Physics; Applied Mathematics; Computer Science) and 16 years of related experience in systems engineering, modeling and simulation, or operations analysis; or master’s degree and 14 years; or Ph.D. and 12 years
  • Recognized subject‑matter expertise in mission‑level operations analysis, campaign‑level modeling, and system‑of‑systems simulation
  • Demonstrated impact on enterprise‑level or portfolio‑level decisions through MS&A (architecture trades, capability roadmaps, investment choices)
  • Extensive experience providing independent technical assessments and representing programs in customer technical reviews and senior leadership briefings
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor multiple teams, establish standards and best practices, and drive adoption of advanced modeling and digital engineering techniques
  • Strong executive‑level communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical decision‑makers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret and/or Special Access Program (SAP) access; active TS/SAP is highly preferred
  • Broad and deep experience across multiple domains, such as: Missile/interceptor guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) RF or EO/IR seeker/sensor modeling
  • Integrated air defense systems (IADS) or threat modeling
  • Electronic attack, electronic protection, and countermeasures modeling
  • Survivability, lethality, and vulnerability analysis at the weapon or mission level
  • Recognition as a technical authority via publications, external working groups, or customer acknowledgment
  • Experience defining enterprise‑level MS&A strategies, standards, and capability roadmaps across a portfolio of missile and interceptor programs
  • Demonstrated leadership in building technical communities of practice, training programs, and long‑term capability development plans for MS&A

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards Primary Level Salary Range: $183,200.00 - $274,800.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
