Responsibilities

• Design and develop next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems.
• Model, verify multi-rate and fixed-point signal processing algorithms.
• Channel estimation, equalization, and coding/decoding development.
• Interface with FPGA/ASIC teams to implement algorithms in hardware.
• Support payload, subsystem, and spacecraft integration and testing.
• Participate in systems engineering activities including requirements definition and architecture development.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior/Lead DSP Algorithms Engineer to support the design and development of advanced satellite communications systems for defense, intelligence, and space programs. This individual will contribute to the full communications system lifecycle, including concept development, algorithm design, modeling, architecture definition, hardware implementation, integration, and testing.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), digital communications, wireless communications, modem design, receiver design, channel estimation, FPGA/ASIC implementation, and satellite communications systems.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Design and develop next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems.
• Develop, model, and verify multi-rate and fixed-point signal processing algorithms.
• Create and analyze DSP and digital communications algorithms including:
• Channel estimation
• Equalization
• Turbo and Viterbi coding/decoding
• Filter design
• Resampling theory
• Waveform generation and characterization
• Perform communications system modeling, simulation, and performance analysis.
• Conduct system architecture evaluations and technical trade studies.
• Support modem and receiver design activities.
• Participate in systems engineering efforts including requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture development, and design trade studies.
• Collaborate with FPGA and ASIC development teams to implement communications algorithms in hardware.
• Support payload, subsystem, and spacecraft integration and testing activities through deployment and operational support.
• Interface with customers, suppliers, program leadership, systems engineers, integration teams, and senior technologists.
• Provide technical leadership and contribute to internal research and development initiatives.

Skills and Requirements

• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience developing Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Digital Communications algorithms.
• 3+ years of experience using MATLAB and/or Simulink.
• 5+ years of experience in digital communications and signal processing theory.
• 3+ years of systems engineering experience including requirements definition, architecture development, allocation, verification, and trade studies.
• 1+ years of FPGA or ASIC experience.

One of the following:

• Master's degree and 7+ years of related experience, or
• Bachelor's degree and 9-15 years of related experience. - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering strongly preferred.
• Satellite communications experience.
• Wireless communications experience.
• Software Defined Radio (SDR) experience.
• Modem design experience.
• Receiver design experience.
• Experience developing communications algorithms for FPGA or ASIC implementations.
• Experience leading engineering teams or technical efforts.

Experience with laboratory equipment including:

• Oscilloscopes
• Spectrum analyzers
• Waveform generators
