Synectic Solutions, Inc. (SSI) seeks a Systems Engineer (Journeyman) to support the DIARCM program at NAS Patuxent River in Lexington Park, MD. The role covers research, integration, test, and life-cycle support of aircraft protection systems for aircrews against infrared threats and missiles.

U.S. citizen with Active Top Secret clearance (SCI and SAP eligibility), a technical BS/BA, and three+ years of relevant defense experience are required.

Qualifications

• At least three years of relevant defense or government program experience.
• Ability to work on-site with travel about every two months.

Job description

Synectic Solutions is seeking Systems Engineer (Journeyman) to support the Advanced Tactical Aircraft Protection Systems Program Office (PMA-272) at NAS Patuxent River in Lexington Park, MD. PMA-272 manages the development, acquisition and sustainment of operational advances in aircraft survivability equipment. This position will support the Distributed Aperture Infrared Countermeasures (DIARCM) aircraft protection systems for the Assault Integrated Product Team (IPT). The DAIRCM missile-defense system is for helicopters and other aircraft to defeat vehicle-launched infrared-guided missiles and man-portable air-defense systems. It also can detect laser-guided threats and hostile fire near helicopters. This is an in-person on-site position at NAS Patuxent River and not eligible for telework.

Responsibilities

• Perform work related to research, development, integration, test, acquisition, and life-cycle support of electronic systems that provide the aircrew with the situational awareness needed for safety-of-flight
• Performs programmatic or technical knowledge identifying, formulating, designing, and/or testing practical solutions to engineering problems
• Guides the engineering development of modern complex systems
• Employs systems engineering methods and tools in the development of systems
• Advises on, administers, or performs professional, scientific, or technical work concerned with engineering projects, systems, processes, equipment, devices, material or methods
• Effectively and efficiently operate and communicate across multi-level security environments
• Demonstrates competence and creativity in developing new concepts and new uses of material/hardware/software/tactics
• Develops or tests new equipment or material that significantly adds to the operability and usefulness of existing or new equipment/systems having new features
• Provides technically sound advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of systems or concept development
• Summarizing data, observations, and findings to support the preparation of technical documents, reports, and presentations for stakeholders
• Gather, analyze, document, and manage technical and performance requirements from all relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives
• Review life cycle management documentation for DIARCM, ensuring supportability from design through disposal
• Prepare clear, concise, technical documents, including gap analyses, business case analyses, plans, and regular status reports/briefings

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen with Active Top Secret with SCI and SAP eligibility
• Technical or Scientific BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university
• At least three (3) years of recent and relevant experience in a position related to the labor category description is required
• Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required
• Demonstrated experience in delivering results in support of multi-level security projects
• Direct experience in defense, aerospace, or government programmatic/technical settings
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills for working with engineers, logisticians, and multi-disciplinary teams
• Anticipated Travel requirements are 1 week per every 2 months
• Proficient in the MS Office 365 suite
