Job summary

Astronics Connectivity Systems & Certification (Astronics CSC) in Kent, WA is seeking a software/embedded systems engineer to design, test and maintain in-flight entertainment and cabin management software.

You will work on interfaces to GUIs, embedded systems, and networked applications across Linux/Windows environments, with on-site duties and occasional travel; compensation includes base salary and quarterly profit-sharing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical program or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in relevant roles.
  • Deep knowledge of C#, C++, Python.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux/Android/iOS/Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with complex network-based software projects.
  • Networking protocols (HTTP, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, UDP, L2/L3).
  • Troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining and improving software.

About Astronics Connectivity Systems & Certification (Astronics CSC):

Astronics Connectivity Systems & Certification (Astronics CSC) designs, engineers, manufactures and certifies reliable digital in-flight entertainment and cabin management systems (IFE/CMS) for the corporate, private and VIP aircraft industry. Our custom digital applications have been installed and commissioned on a wide range of VIP/VVIP narrowbody and widebody platforms in addition to numerous private and utility jet, turboprop, and helicopter models.

Astronics CSC is a world leader in designing and integrating custom digital IFE/CMS systems. Our product line covers every facet of in-flight entertainment and cabin management control including: entertainment, lighting, call, temperature, audio/video on demand, tablet integration, real-time 3-D moving map, and much more. We also offer customized graphical user interfaces accessible on our touchscreens, allowing seamless and intuitive control of the IFE/CMS system.

While this role is primarily onsite at our Kent office, we offer flexible work day start and end times, and additional options to help you maintain work life balance - choose between five-8 hour days or four-9 hour days with a half day Friday.

Summary

Systems design, configuration and test of applications for In-Flight-Entertainment/Information systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses
  • Provide support for systems integration of new product development
  • Provides multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives
  • Assists other areas to develop and maintain timeliness of projects
  • Support customers remotely and on site with issues found on aircraft

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical program; or Associate’s degree with relevant experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience.
  • Deep Knowledge of one or more C#, C++. Python
  • Deep knowledge of one or more OS – Linux, Android, iOS, Windows
  • Experience working on complex network-based software projects.
  • Working knowledge of Networking protocols HTTP, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, UDP, L2, L3, switching and routing
  • Troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining and improving existing software.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced multi-disciplined environment with quickly changing priorities and requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management or clients.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Physical

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Location

This is an on-site position requiring the employee to be in the office 5 days a week.

Travel

Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.

The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts or is exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Compensation:

  • Base salary: $94,000 through $120,000, influenced by several factors including experience, skill set, education, certifications, market conditions, and business needs.
  • The salary range specified is applicable to positions within Washington State and reflects various factors considered in compensation decisions.
  • All employees are eligible for our highly competitive Quarterly Profit-Sharing Incentive program.
  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen anddrug test.
