Job summary

CrowdStrike is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join the Production Services team and help engineer and maintain production systems across large-scale environments. You will work on Linux for thousands of bare metal servers and VMs, write automation scripts, and support deployments in internal data centers.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in production engineering, experience with Kubernetes, OpenStack, GitLab CI/CD, and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years engineering experience in production environments.
  • Experience with Linux for thousands of bare metal servers and VMs.
  • Background in automation and scripting for tooling and dashboards.
  • Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and CI/CD tools.
  • Ability to read/write scripts (Python, Perl, PHP, JS, Go).
  • US citizen or green card holder; able to travel for group meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Understand complex systems architecture and advise improvements.
  • Maintain and operate production services across large environments.
  • Troubleshoot server hardware and deployments; support data center runs.
  • Develop automation tools and dashboards; contribute to monitoring/alarms.

About The Role:

CrowdStrike is in search of a Systems Engineer II to join our growing Production Services team. The candidate will play an important role in the engineering and maintaining solutions for our production systems environments.

What You’ll Do:
  • Ability to understand complex technical systems architecture and help make recommendations for improvement
  • Have experience with Linux engineering and administration for thousands of bare metal servers and virtual machines
  • Troubleshoot server hardware issues
  • Familiarity with large-scale production deployments of servers and applications inside internal datacenter
  • Ability to read and write moderate to complex scripts and programs for automation, tools, frameworks, dashboards, alarms. (common uses: Python, Perl, PHP, JavaScript, Go)
  • On-call rotation with other team members
What You’ll Need:
  • US Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Experience with Bare Metal Orchestration services (OpenStack, Canonical MaaS, etc)
  • Experience with Linux engineering and administration for thousands of bare metal and virtual machines
  • Experience with deployment and management of container orchestration services (Kubernetes)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (OpenStack Nova, VMWare ESXi)
  • Experience with CI/CD systems such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins
  • Experience with configuration management like Chef, Ansible, Salt
  • Experience with working on small to large scale projects
  • Experience writing technical documentation
  • 3+ years of engineering experience, preferably in a production role
  • 2-3 business related trips per year for group meetings
  • Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.
Preferable Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SNMP
  • Knowledge of bare metal provisioning technologies, such as Canonical MaaS and OpenStack
  • Knowledge of Linux Operating systems, such as Ubuntu and RedHat
  • Knowledge of OSI model
  • Knowledge of block storage solutions, such as TrueNAS
  • Knowledge of container systems such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of monitoring solutions, such as Prometheus, Grafana and Zabbix
  • Knowledge with CI/CD systems such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins
  • Knowledge with configuration management like Chef, Ansible, Salt
  • Knowledge with threat intelligence and mobile technology a plus

  • Self-learning capabilities, taking initiative in a fast pace/quickly changing environment
  • Work effectively and professionally with cross-functional groups across divisions, worldwide, as part of a team
  • Team-player, positive attitude and flexible with a distributed team in multiple time zone
  • Must exhibit meticulous attention to detail, and have the ability to make good, timely decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

This role will require the candidate to periodically undergo and pass additional background and fingerprint check(s) consistent with government customer requirements.

CrowdStrike, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Placement within the pay range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location. The base salary range for this position for all U.S. candidates is $100,000 - $145,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, 401k and paid time off.
