Job Description: Systems Engineer II

Excited to grow your career? Join an R&D Product Development team at BD! We are looking for a motivated Systems Engineer II to support the development of innovative medical technologies. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in design verification who is interested in expanding their systems engineering expertise across the product development lifecycle. The Systems Engineer II will work to ensure products meet customer, stakeholder, regulatory, and business needs. The individual will play a key role in planning and executing system-level verification activities while gaining experience in requirements management, risk management, system integration, and product development processes. This position offers a strong growth path toward a broader Systems Engineering leadership role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support system-level verification planning, coordination, execution, and documentation activities for new product development and sustaining engineering projects.
  • Develop, review, and maintain verification protocols, test methods, reports, and traceability documentation.
  • Translate customer and stakeholder needs into testable system requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in system-level risk assessments, hazard analyses, and design reviews to ensure product requirements and risks are adequately verified and validated.
  • Support requirements development, management, and traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Reliability, Statistics, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Clinical, and Marketing teams to resolve technical issues and support product development activities.
  • Contribute to system integration activities and help identify and resolve system-level issues.
  • Assist in identifying tasks, resources, and technical risks needed to achieve project milestones.
  • Apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles and quality engineering practices throughout product development.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and product development practices.
Required Skills/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 1-2+ years of relevant engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and engineering experience.
  • Experience in product testing, design verification, systems engineering, quality engineering, or product development.
  • Understanding of requirements management and requirements traceability concepts.
  • Familiarity with risk management methodologies such as FMEA and hazard analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail.
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Experience in the medical device, healthcare technology, or other regulated industry.
  • Experience with design verification, validation, system integration testing, or reliability testing.
  • Experience with requirements management tools.
  • Familiarity with the product development lifecycle from concept through launch.
  • Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), statistical analysis, or reliability engineering.
  • Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments.

Salary Range Information

$83,500.00 - $133,500.00 USD Annual
