Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, invites engineers to join Collins Aerospace's Solipsys division in Fulton, MD. This full-time role offers hands-on experience in systems engineering for DoD programs, with some travel to customer sites as needed.

You will perform full life cycle systems engineering tasks, tackle architecture design, V&V, and software installation, while designing multi-sensor fusion and visualization solutions with a team of SMEs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field required by start date.
  • GPA 3.0 or higher preferred.
  • Knowledge of Link 16, C2, surveillance/radars, or shipboard combat systems is a plus.
  • Experience with software testing across Linux/Windows/VMs/containers.
  • Proficiency in Java, C++, and scripting (Linux shells, PowerShell, Python).
  • Internship or summer work for a DoD contractor is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full life cycle systems engineering: requirements analysis, definition, architecture, trade studies, integration, V&V, testing and software installation.
  • Design and test advancements in multi-sensor fusion, networked situational awareness and visualization tech.

What You Will Do

This position is located in Fulton, MD and does require some travel to customer sites as needed. Perform full life cycle systems engineering tasks including system requirements analysis, definition, architecture design, trade studies, integration, verification and validation (V&A), formal testing, and software installation. Design, develop and test exciting and innovative advancements in Multi-Sensor and Information Fusion, Networked Situational Awareness, and Visualization technologies. Work with department systems engineering subject matter experts to solve critical technical problems with innovative solutions.

Learn the fundamentals of the Systems Engineering discipline. Gain hands‑on experience testing and debugging state‑of‑the‑art Command and Control software. Establish mentoring relationships with systems engineering subject matter experts to help you build a solid foundation for your future as a professional engineer.

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer, Software, Electrical Engineering or a STEM major obtained by start date.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Knowledge with any of these systems: Link 16 Tactical Data Link (J series messages), Command and Control (C2), Surveillance/Radars, Air Traffic Control, Mission Planning, Missile Systems or Combat/Fire Control Systems, or Shipboard Combat Systems such as Aegis and SSDS Mk II.
  • Knowledge in software testing across multiple operating environments such as Linux, Windows, Virtual Machines, and Containers.
  • Knowledge of software development in Java and C++ and scripting in Linux shells, Windows PowerShell, and Python.
  • Experience as an intern or summer hire working for a DoD contractor.

The salary range for this role is 62,900 USD - 119,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Relocation Eligibility

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
