RTX is seeking a Systems Engineer in Goleta to join the Space & Airborne Center. You’ll integrate hardware and software, develop test plans, and verify system requirements for final sell-off with customers. Expect cross‑disciplinary collaboration and hands‑on experience across the product lifecycle.

You’ll work with MBSE and Agile methods, support test activities, and coordinate with engineering teams to ensure first-time success in field and lab environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained by start date
  • Experience with tools, such as Microsoft Office, MATLAB or Python, for data analysis and automation
  • Experience with troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, including the use of common commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.)

  • Support planning and execution of Integration, Verification, or Troubleshoot Test activities in our labs, in the field, or at a Depot facility

What You Will Do

The Space & Airborne Center within Systems Engineering Integration & Test seeks talented Systems Engineers. Our Space & Airborne team located integrate hardware and software, develop test plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, and verify system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. Every day there is a different set of challenges to overcome. You'll be expected to collaborate across disciplines and partners to implement solutions. In this role, you'll get to know a little bit about every aspect of the system and have a direct hand in making it all work together supporting teams of engineers engaged in integration and test efforts. As a Systems Engineer in the life cycle center within the Space & Airborne Center, you will interface with the customers to develop CONOPS, system architecture, system requirements and manage qualification, verification and validation. Our center focuses on back-end sustainment and repair design and sustainment development as well as transitioning systems through integration and test from production to warranty/sustainment. You will also perform functional / physical analysis, allocation, and trade studies. You will support Radar Mode requirement development, engineering testing, integration and flight-testing, production, system deployment, and post deployment support across the product lifecycle. Through Digital Transformation (DTx) you will perform these functions using a variety of methods and enabling technologies, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Agile product development.

  • Maintain engineering databases
  • Coordinate engineering tag up and meetings between the Program, System Engineering, and Chief Engineer
  • Resolve and coordinate system technical solutions with Engineering teams
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Engineering IPTLs
  • Participate in periodic team meetings, interface teleconference meetings, working group meetings
  • Support associated with implementing process requirements
  • Support for mockup hardware repairs
  • Sustainment/Depot returns and repair
Qualifications
You Must Have
  • Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained by start date
  • Experience with tools, such as Microsoft Office, MATLAB or Python, for data analysis and automation
  • Experience with troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, including the use of common commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Major: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics
  • Experience with or exposure to various military platforms for weapons conveyance, such as ships, ground combat systems, fixed and rotary wing aircraft
  • Experience with using telemetry data collection equipment to capture real time data and/or real time monitoring
  • Experience with electrical schematics, interface control documentation, and communications protocols
  • Experience with reading and integrating software routines with hardware/electronics; C/C++/C# preferred

The salary range for this role is 62,900 USD - 119,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
